Goodbye from StensGaming
Written by Stephen Stenhouse
Wednesday, 25 June 2008
It is with sadness and regret that effective immediately StensGaming will be dropping all forms of team and community sponsorship within 1.6. Over the past year there has been a clear breakdown of the community across all levels - competitions/Nationals seem to be losing their competitive edge, fewer players and teams behave professionally, and we feel there is less and less security around what we can offer the community without it being attacked and brought down. In having less confidence, our enthusiasm to invest in the current 1.6 market is obviously lacklustre and we feel that perhaps it is best for us to step back and see where this community is going, rather than continue to drain funds into something that at the moment is spiraling out of control. Two years ago when we joined the 1.6 community, we thought that we'd make an active contribution to fostering and developing the 1.6 scene in both Qld and Australia, but with so many obstacles facing us along the way we feel that perhaps now isn't the best time to continue this endeavour. We look forward to continuing to watch and support 1.6 from the comfort of our computer screen, and wish you good luck in your community development.

We'd like to wish Jac, Kram, c0ke, GazR and Benor all the best in this coming nationals, and they are truly the most accomplished team we have ever had the pleasure of sponsoring. We look forward to watching your progress at the WCG Grand Finals, and look forward to seeing you in Germany. We'd also like to thank Andychode, Jamesburbs and Daveslither for their ongoing support of StensGaming and 1.6. They have been with us since the begining and are the only few who have continued to contibute and assist us in everything we do. Thank you all, and good luck.

To those of you who have supported StensGaming either now or in the past, thank you and we hope you can understand and appreciate where we are coming from now in making this difficult decision.

StensGaming looks forward to hopefully seeing you all again in the future.

Function Zer0 win the WCG Qld Qualifier and the #1 Autobirth

2nd. A-Gamers - #2 Autobirth
3rd. EYA (disqualified after dead-talking in their game verse A-Gamers) - Invite
4th.  GameSeven - Invite

With ESAU being ddosed by community scum who will no doubt try attack this site, there has been relatively little coverage of the WCG 2008 event - particularly pertaining to the Queensland Qualifier which is taking place today. As far as I know, there is no bracket available, so please feel free to comment in the comments' section to keep post this updated as news unfolds.

StensGaming take out CEVO 2008
Written by David Barrett
Thursday, 19 June 2008
StensGaming were successfully able to take out CEVO 2008 tonight, after comfortably winning the bo3 Grand Finals verse Sydney's Volpriv. The first map was played on de_dust2, and StensGaming were able to take the early lead with a very strong t first-half. GazR's ace in the 2nd half pistol round ensured the money and momentum was on SG's side, and they were able to take the first game 16-3.

The second map saw VP win the knife round and choose the T side for their first half. SG were able to win the pistol round, but VP came back quickly and won several strong rounds in brief succession. SG eventually regrouped and finished strongly, winning the first half 9-6. VP sadly did not have much luck the following half, and with SG winning the next pistol round the money was on their side. SG did not lose another round for the map and were able to take out the 2nd map 16-6.

So what club are you in?
Written by David Barrett
Sunday, 27 April 2008
Australian Counter-Strike is segregated across 2 sides - you're either a 1.6 player, or a CS:S scoundrel. But even within these communities there is a further breakdown of allegiances with clans and groups of friends forming their own smaller 'clubs'. There are a lot of clubs around online, with members ranging from a few people to over 40, their members are only identifiable during online scrims or when they tag-up on irc. Furthermore, there are various types of clubs, created for different purposes - whether designed around scrimming with mates, or for more social and interactive reasons. StensGaming take look into the various 1.6 communities within Australia, and chat with the creators of some of Australia's best known clubs to gather an insight as to what they're all about.

ESAU's New Management- Welcome Godless and bee
Written by David Barrett
Monday, 14 April 2008

ESAU's previous owner, Jason 'Orotund1', has decided to step down from his position as owner and operator of Australia's #1 CounterStrike 1.6. The sale opportunity was announced in surprising fashion within ESAU's own forums on Friday, and it did not take long for two of Australia's long-term 1.6 community members to take on the challenge.

David 'Godless' Christie and Hamish 'Bee' Allen were able to raise the funds necessary to purchase the site, and now face the challenge of upgrading and maintaining the face of Australian 1.6. In what will no doubt be a big job in the weeks ahead, they have enthusiastically stepped into the role and look forward to the challenge. StensGaming welcome ESAU and their new management, and look forward to working in alliance with them in the months ahead.

StensGaming's slither was able to have a quick chat with bee about the purchase... Please click Read for the full interview
